That's right folks... for the past 4 nights, Carter has been sleeping in his own room and in his own crib. Prior to "the big move," he was sleeping in his bassinett right next to me. I loved having him right there so that I could hear him breathing (-ahem- snoring) and could easily feed him in the middle of the night. It's was soooo hard for me to move him into his own room. I knew this day was coming...
He's doing so well. Me, not so much.
First, I have had 15 monitors on him. Okay, so I only have 2. I keep the video monitor on my side of the bed, so that I can continuously stare at him whenever I wake up throughout the night. Then, Bob has the monitor that goes with the AngelCare Sensor System on his side. It does make us feel so much better that we have that sensor. If you don't know what it is, it helps prevent against SIDS by detecting small movements (including breathing) and will send off an alarm if there is no movement for 20 seconds. It also displays the temperature in the room and acts as a regular monitor. It's wonderful... even for the peice of mind that it gives us.
Secondly, Carter, like his parents, can only sleep if there is noise in the background (fan, TV, a/c, etc.) So we bought him the "baby crack" machine and put it on "rain." Works like a charm.
He has been doing so well in there. Even when he does, randomly, wake up in the middle of the night, it's nice to use his glider for feedings and he has been going back to sleep right away. He seems so.... comfortable.
I think it's going to take me a little longer.

Aww congrats on the big move. I bet it is really hard when you were so used to him being next to you.
Do you mind if I ask how you like the AngelCare system? I am thinking about getting it but also nervous about false alarms.
We LOVE it! We haven't had any false alarms. We even made sure that it worked by putting a box of diapers in the crib. The alarm went off in 20 seconds :) I highly recommend it.
