It's cold. You know what happens when it's cold in the morning and your alarm goes off. It's almost impossible to gather the motivation necessary to get out of your warm bed. I get up first every morning, trek down stairs to let Kai out and start making Carter's morning bottle. Cereal, formula, Zantac, microwave, shake. Repeat if necessary. I then let Kai in and give him his morning treats.
Then comes the hard part.
I go to Carter's crib to wake him up. He's warm and snuggly under his blanket. I pick him up. He's still snoring on my shoulder. I take Carter Man, the bottle, his blanket, and the diaper caddy upstairs so Daddy can feed him. Bob is still sleeping. Now I have 2 boys snoozing away. I lay Carter on my pillow so that he can wake up a little bit before eating. It doesn't work. He settles his head into my pillow and falls deeper into sleep. On my pillow. Under my blanket.
I reluctantly continue to get ready for work. I quickly remember that Bob woke me up at the end of the Phillies game to tell me that they won. We gave each other high-fives and then I, in my Nyquil trance, fell immediately back to sleep. I turned on the TV in our room and changed the channel from Fox to Sports Center so that I could watch the highlights of last nights game (that I missed after taking the Nyquil and passing out.) Meanwhile the boys are still sleeping as I get dressed. I turn around to get my pants from the end of the bed and this is what I see:
Ah, the power of Sports Center.
