1.) It's Carter's birthday month! My baby will be 2 on July 18th, which is just over 2 weeks away! His birthday invites went out a few weeks ago and the RSVP's are starting to roll in. This is the design I created for his invites this year because we're having his party at an indoor bounce house facility:
But now that I realized just how much he is obsessed with the movie UP, I wish I would have created "UP" themed invitations! Oh well. We're doing the "UP" theme with everything else, including his custom made tee from Golden Shop {who created Carter's 1st Birthday Tee & the "Lil Sis"/"Big Bro" Tees} and an adorable birthday cake with the floating house and lots of balloons!
I've been searching high and low for UP themed party favors and loot bags, but it's been impossible to find ANYTHING!! Sigh. I did find loot bags and a banner on Ebay, but they sold before I could buy them. After contacting the seller, he said they're all out of them now, so that kinda stinks. So the search continues...
2.) What do you buy for a two-year-old that basically has everything? My original thought for a gift was a swingset, but I absolutely hate our backyard and hate to be out there for more then 10 minutes at a time. We also plan to move in the near future, so it would be better to wait and get a nice swingset for our new home.
So, what should we buy him? He doesn't really need toys. He does need fall clothes, so that's what I've been suggesting to family members that ask me what he needs. He'll likely get toys from his friends attending the party {this kid has more friends than me.}
I'm stuck. Help!
3.) I had my 6 weeks check-up yesterday with my OB {a week early, but who's counting!} and everything is good! My BP was awesome and they had my weight at exactly my pre-pregnancy weight, which I'm happy with. Speaking of weight... I got the all clear to exercise, which brings me to #4...
4.) I started the 30-day Shred today! Whew. I'm tired, but I can really see how it works. Thankfully, I didn't have to purchase the DVD because they have it On Demand... woot woot! Because today is July 1st, I figured it was the perfect day to start. =)
I wasn't really prepared to start today though... I couldn't find my free weights which means I did the workout without them. Oops. I just went through the motions of the weights and will head to the store tonight to buy some new weights for tomorrow.
59 days til OBX! I can't wait to be here...
5.) Brynn has been sleeping a little better. Well, every other night, that is... Let's reflect on the week, shall we?
- Sunday night was some kind of awful. Brynn was up from 1:45am until 5am straight. You can read about it here.
- Monday night was wonderful. She only woke up ONCE to eat, and that was about 2:30am.
- Tuesday night was awful again. Brynn slept for 5 hours straight... but don't let that fool you.... it was from 7pm until midnight. After that, my girl was up. A lot.
- And last night, we were back to wonderful again. Brynn ate at 9:45pm, fell asleep by 10:15pm and slept 5 hours straight again!! But this time, it was at a more ideal time for mama and daddy... she didn't wake up again until 3:15am and then 6am.
...and that's what's going on @ Case de Jenni. Suggestions for UP themed party stuff and a birthday present for my Carter Man are greatly appreciated! What did you get for your 2-year-old?

HI, I LOVE your blog! I haven't seen any UP stuff since the movie came out. I was thinking you could do a balloon theme,, I think that might be as close as you can get. I was at Party On, when I was planning my son's Pirate party and seen some really cute clear bags with balloons all over them. They also had this whole set that was all done in balloons. Oh by the way, your babies are SO cute :) Brynn was born a day after my sons birthday, only he was born in '06'. GOOD LUCK!!!
My soon to be 2 year old is getting tickets to Yo Gabba Gabba Live for his birthday! :)
Maybe Up related merch? Tshirts, sheets, etc...hmmm. I'll have to keep thinking about this one.
@ Andrea- Thanks! If I can't find any UP party stuff, that's exactly what I plan to do! I'll buy balloon-themed stuff!
I'm glad you're asking...I'm needing ideas myself! 2 is hard because they LOVE the big boy toys, but they aren't really ready for all of them. I'm thinknig a "mini" powerwheels (toy story 3 them is cute!) to get ready for a real power wheels from Santa. Also, regulation size outdoor basketballs, soccer balls, the espn t-ball toy, anything for Art (my sister created an "art cart" for Christmas last year and loaded it with coloring books, crayons, color wonder, jumbo coloring books, paint brushes, etc.) and shoes (Ty seems to wear them for 1 month before he outgrows them! Let me know if you come up w/ anything else!
forgot to add...I'm freakishly stalking ebay for nike golf clubs as well. my fingers are crossed!
You could probably find Up clip art and use solid colored goodie bags decorated w/the clip art. As far as favors go maybe get the 8 pack crayons and print Up pictures on a label and put the label on the crayon box. You could make your own coloring book if you could find Up coloring pages online, or get those small mead flip notebooks (the pocket sized ones) and put a label on those w/Up images. I got bubbles at the dollar store for O's birthday and printed out labels to coordinate as well. Then just throw some candy or primary colored items and you are good to go.
I feel bad....I can't remember what we got Owen for his 2nd Birthday...but his birthday is so close to Christmas we normally will hit the CHristmas clearance. Since his birthday is in the summer...how about some outside toys that are easily moved? Basketball hoop, soccer goal, sand box? Tricycle or powerwheels, scooter....maybe something he can ride in while you push Brynn in the stroller. Good luck...I'm sure it will be perfect!
Thanks for all the great ideas, ladies! Keep 'em comin!
@ Amy- I don't have a printer anymore!!! Believe me, I totally thought of that and found some great UP characters that I could use to create my own loot bags, etc. We took out our home office when we made Brynn's nursery.
I found a few UP books and stickers on Amazon, so I'm going to order those. It might be easiest to just stick with the balloon theme for the goody bags and get the UP cake and Tee.
For 2, We are going wth a train table and tricycle. Although my friend from NY got her kids a bounce, bounce for home. It is relatively affordable and has lasted her kids for years.
