What the heck should we wear?
I'm a big fan of fall colors in professional pictures {creams, browns, blues, etc.} so I'm sure you'll see a pattern here. Especially if you take a look at our family pictures from the last 2 years:
Session I
Taken on October 18, 2008 by Erin Farrell Photography
{Carter- 3 months}
Session II
Taken on November 15, 2009 by Stephanie Glover Photography
{Carter- 16 months | Jenn- 12 weeks PG}
So.... I was thinking about putting the kids in cream {or possibly blue for Carter} and Bob and I will wear dark browns/tans with dark jeans. I still have yet to find sweaters/shirts for Bob and I, but let's start with the kids, shall we?
Carter:
{click on the options to enlarge}
Carter already has the dark GAP jeans and the brown shoes in all 3 of the options and the light blue button-down from option #3 {so I'd only need to buy the (somewhat expensive) blue sweater (which I love) from that option.}
Brynn:
{again, click on the options to enlarge}
I ordered that hat from Etsy already... holy cuteness!! And Brynn already has the pink UGGS from option #2 {thanks Aunt Reenie!}
Soooooo, what do you think?? I made 2 polls on the side- one for each kiddo. Again, Bob and I will likely wear browns/tans with dark jeans.
Oh, and one last favor... Top Baby Blogs just performed their quarterly update and reset their website, so I could definitely use a boost to get me back in the top 20 again! If you like my blog, I could sure use your vote ;)
Thanks so much for your help!

I would probably put Brynn in something more jewel toned opposed to cream. I've found that in photographing babies, their skin tends to read very light already, and when they're wearing a similar color, it can be a little blah. A darker more jewel tone tends to really be much more flattering in my humble opinion!
i love option 3 for carter and option 1 for brynn but i would have her wear the pink shoes with it to pull the pink from her hat! adorable!
Very cute, voted on the side. Love the pink Uggs for Brynn.
I love #3 for Carter. I love both offit choices for Bryn. I like the idea of all jeans for the picture, so I might pick 2 for her.
I can't believe I am reading this. I have a draft saved of the exact same type of post (our pictures are the 29th) and the outfits are so similar!!! I don't think you can go wrong with either outfit. The color combo rocks! I love the cream sweater dress for Brynn though since I am leaning towards something similar from babyGap for Grace. :)
Number three for Carter, love the sweater dress for Brynn, but the above comment about photographing cream/babies might sway me to put her in something else. Have fun, we have our friend coming today to take new pics of James, can't wait!
I vote for option 3 for Carter and Option 1 for Brynn :)
All the outfits are adorable, though! I just like those two the most.
I am also a fan of #3 for Carter and #1 for Brynn. I almost bought the same sweater for Jack! I got him the fisherman's cable knit sweater, though. they dont have it on the website anymore?
I'm now scrambling to figure out what we're wearing for our pics! ours are the 14th. I have Jack's outfits, now I just need mine!
The hat for Brynn is so beyond cute! It'll look good with either option. And I *love* option 3 fro Carter. You guys will be adorable no matter what!
#3 for Carter, and #1 for Brynn
I like number 2 for Carter, but without the 'old navy' logo.
I agree with the above pp, try and stay away from the cream colour. If you can find something more vibrant for fall :-)
That blue sweater in #3 is to die for! Makes me wish we had a little boy. I love that outfit. I like #2 for Brynn, love the baby jeans and you will all match. I do see what Meredith is saying about the coloring though.
I love #1 for Brynn and #3 for Carter!
Offtopic but I've been reading your blog for a few months now... 1st time ever commenting though! I really love reading since you're local (I'm in Lansdale PA). Anyways, I found it funny when I read this entry and saw your one photo session was with Erin Farrell! She was one of our choices for our wedding photographer but she was due right around our wedding and couldn't shoot for us. She was so lovely! Anyways, just wanted to share... small world!!
I say either option 1 or 3 for Carter. Love the dress option for Brynn! We are doing a little sweater dress for Quinlin. I cant wait...I may have to look into etsy for a little hat too. Love!!!
Carter - option 1 or 3 I love the little boy sweaters it's hard to pick. #1 is my fav but #3 is super adorable too
Brynn - Option 2...those little pink shoes are adorable!!!!
For Carter, I think I'd go with your first option...but then again I'm partial to brown. As for your little Brynn, I think I'd try to find something with a little more colour either a warm brown or even a plum colour would look great on a baby. I found with my little girl she looked washed out when we had her wear ivory her first Christmas. Just a suggestion...good luck! It's always so tough to decide how to dress ourselves let alone our little ones;)
OK, DEFINATELEY option #3 for Carter...LOVE the sweater.
That's why I would love to have boy because I love the clothes...
I loved for option 3 for Carter. My Carter wore the same navy sweater for his 18 month pictures a couple of weeks ago. It was more expensive than I would generally spend on a sweater for my son but it is oh so cute! :)
Sorry, I couldn't vote for Brynn - they are both adorable and I couldn't decide!
Good Luck!
Are you sure you aren't stalking me, Jenni? We are having family pics on the same exact day!
Those idea boards are such a great idea. Where did you create those? I've got to figure out what the heck we're wearing.
Oh, and I voted at the side AND for your blog!
Thank you so much for your votes everyone! I'm going to talk to my photog (Steph!) and see what she thinks about the colors =)
@ Molly- I made them in PowerPoint ;)
I say #1 for both kids. I'm one of those silly people who doesn't like words on shirt for professional photos... :P
;)
Long time reader. First time commented.
Where did you find that adorable dress for Brynn? I love it.
For obvious reasons I choose option 1 for Brynnand 3 for Carter man.
hmmm...this is a toughie!
LOVE option 2 or 3 for Carter...and espeically love the sweaters! SO handsome!
For Brynn, I like the richer tone for her like another reader suggested...maybe an amythest or something? And that hat is FREAKING adorable!
For you and Bob, I'd go with the creams and chocolates, and tie those into the kids in some way. maybe bring in your balloons from your maternity pictures?? or a Kite for Carter with the richer colours like what Brynn would wear?
Option 3 Carter
Option 1 Brynn
As PP I would also suggest a color on Brynn but if I had to pick I'd pick 1 for her! Either way I'm sure they will look great!
They are going to look so adorable!! Great choices. Have a fun photo shoot!
