Take it off Monday

Medifast | Week 2
This week had it's ups and downs for me. Let's start with the "ups" shall we? The plan? It gets easier everyday. It's so easy to just grab food, make it, and be on your way. I love having the low-cal options without having to think about what I'm going to eat for snack or lunch or breakfast or whenever. I try to save my "lean & green" for dinner and I've been doing well with that on days that I'm not tortured with dinner parties. {See "downs" below.}

I knew it would be a difficult week because I had so many events {4 to be exact} that solely revolved around food. On Monday night, Kacy and I headed out to buy all the wine & beer for my parents anniversary party on Saturday and we stopped for dinner on the way home. I stayed on plan having a small house salad, a 7oz steak, and steamed veggies {which I only ate 1/2 of.}

Sweeeet 1 for 1.

Next up was our Peer Mentor dinner for work on Thursday night, and it was held at one of my favorite restaurants: Hibachi. I was great alllll day, and ate my Medifast meals right on schedule. But one of the problems with this work dinner was that it started late. Which meant I was hungry. Like "I only ate about 500 calories so far today and we're at my favorite restaurant" kind of hungry. {Do you see where this is going? Okay.} Anyone that has ever been to a Japanese steakhouse knows that the first thing they throw on your plate is hibachi rice. My favorite. And my fork had a mind of its own. I ordered a healthy dinner: steak, chicken & grilled veggies... but the rice got me. {Bastards.} I also skipped dessert {green tea ice cream!}

I'd call this 1.5 for 2.

On Friday afternoon, I had a work shower for someone in my office that is getting married {today, actually! =} We headed to JG Domestic for lunch and instead of ordering the juicy cheese burger and duck-fat fries that I wanted {and about 8 of the 11 people got} I ordered a cobb salad with dressing on the side, instead. And I skipped the cake. This counted as my L&G meal, so I had a Medifast soup for dinner.

Okay, so I'm 2.5 for 3. Not bad.

And here's where I fall by the weigh-side {literally.} We threw my parents a surprise anniversary dinner party on Saturday night at the fabulous La Posata restaurant. Because it was a party, there was a pre-selected menu and everyone had 3 dinner choices: (1) Chicken Parmigiana (2) Grilled Salmon or (3) Ravioli Dolce. Of course the smart choice would have been the salmon, but there is one major problem with that selection: I hate seafood.

Here's everything that I ate on Saturday night: 1 piece of bruchetta, salad, soup broth, and a 1/2 piece of chicken parm. Okay fine, I also had about 5 bites of homemade pasta. {It's hard to refrain when it's right there staring you in the face... see "hibachi rice" above.}

Oh, and 3 glasses of wine. But they were small glasses. {No really, they were. Stop laughing, I'm serious... they were small. What? Okay, they were smaller than my definition of a normal-sized glass of wine. You happy? Sheesh... rough crowd.}

Now I'm 2.5 for 4. Crap.

So, that was my week. And it was a rough one. I think I would have lost more weight {about 3-4 lbs} had I not been tortured. But alas, it is only 2.

But 2 more than last week, right?

___________________________
Week 2 Summary
Weight loss this week: 2 lbs

Weight loss to date: 5 lbs

Weight left to lose: 25 lbs

First Goal: 10 pounds

  • Reward: Pedicure

Second Goal: 20 pounds

Final Goal: 30 pounds

  • Reward: Still trying to think of something wonderful... Ideas??

Success: Staying on plan through 2.5 of the 4 food-related events I've had this week. Staying away from all of my favorite snacks even when my husband and toddler are eating them right in front of me.

Set-Backs: My parents anniversary dinner party on Saturday night was a major set-back {and I knew it would be.}

Exercise: I’m taking walks at lunch and I want to start taking the kids out at night for walks in the neighborhood. I'm so happy about daylight savings because we get home pretty late as it is, so at least we'll have more daylight to get some exercise in when we get home!

Great job Jenni. That's my toughest thing is the "events" and not grazing over food tables at showers, parties, or just Girls Night Out, with all my friends that don't have children yet and can dedicate 2 hours to running everyday! UGH. Love your rewards. Joe's Jeans are my fav! And they are the perfect hip "Mom" Jeans. I mean hip jeans without worrying about being too low in the back! I have the honey's and got them at TJ Maxx, check out their selection great prices $79! I am still trying to get back into my pre-pregnancy ones that I was wearing at 12 weeks pregnant, sigh.

don't let these hiccups get you down! you will meet your goals in spite of these events. and in the meantime you are learning how to control your portions and still be satisfied with what you've eaten.
I think these are great strides for someone that has never dieted! I see a pedicure in your future this weekend! :D

You knew you would have a "set back "but I don't think you did, you knew you planned and my eyes you conquered (even if I can't spell). You didn't let that be the end of that and have a free for all the rest of the day- if you had then that would have been a set back :)

Let me know if you are interested in a new pal with myfitnesspal i'm learning to love that app/site!
